Training for dentists

Fundamentals in periodontics, Module 1

Periodontal screening, Clinical periodontal examination and Radiographic periodontal examination.

Objectives:

Program aimed at general dentists who wish to improve their biological foundation in periodontics to establish the correct diagnosis, prognosis and establish the correct treatment plan for periodontal disease. Module 1 is essentially theoretical and will be supplemented by practical workshops whereby Dr. Malkinson will demonstrate clinical acts and will go through a session of questions and answers.

Content:

  • Periodontal screening : Every patient that comes to you as an existing or new patient needs to undergo a periodontal screening as part of his diagnosis. The periodontal evaluation is an integral part of the general assessment of your patients and will lead the way to a proper diagnosis, prognosis and treatment plan.

  • Clinical periodontal examination : Learn how to fill out properly a periodontal chart with all the clinical parameters such as probing depth, recession values, attachment loss, bleeding on probing, furcation involvement and mobility.

  • Radiographic periodontal examination : Learn how to look at radiographs and determine if there are any periodontal parameters we need to assess.

Who is this course for:

This program is intended for general dentists and team members involved in periodontics who have a desire to acquire the science, art and techniques that will allow them to further master their skills in periodontics. Hygienists are welcome, but the presence of the dentist is compulsory. Experience shows us that this is the best way to ensure the clinical integration of the concepts learned.
